Alexander Schnider started his game-career on a Philips G7000 and the C64 of one of his schoolmates. Soon after, an Amiga 500, a PC, a Mega Drive and a SNES followed. During his studies of law Alexander got involved with the computer demo scene, where he was - together with Gregor Eigner, CEO of Mi’pu’mi Games - an active member of the demo group Neutron. His career in law started at the department of “Immaterialgüterrecht“ („IP“, e.g. trademark and copyright law) at the Regional Court for Civil Matters Graz, where he was able to combine his interests in computer and internet technology with the according legal frameworks. He then worked as associate in IP/IT departments of international major law firms, before he studied for one year in Sidney, Australia. Returning to Austria, he became an Austrian lawyer in 2007. From 2012 until 2014, Alexander managed the Viennese IP and IT department of the worldwide operating law firm Baker & McKenzie. In September 2014, Alexander and four acknowledged IP/IT specialists founded GEISTWERT: a law firm as center of expertise. This law firm is able to work with a high concentration of a rare type of specialized knowledge, allowing it to keep a close watch on the everyday changes showing up on the radar in the highly volatile area of intellectual property. As a veritable intellectual powerhouse, its main mission is to help clients and colleagues reach their goals in the best possible way. Next to numerous highly acclaimed local and international developers, Alexander also represents Start Ups, especially in the areas of license and distribution contracts as well as legal disputes.
